Ready to give TripController™ a try? Read these recommendations first:
- Use only when necessary.
- Use only for "mavericks"; if most are following rules, the extra hassle of using TripController™ could cause more problems than it solves.
- Use for specific purchase types, say car rentals, if that's an area of emphasis for your company.
- Don't block trips unless you feel it's absolutely necessary. Try post-purchase notifications instead.

Hands-Free Traveler Management
Many of our Travel Managers have one word for our TripController™: cool! We tend to agree as this handy tool lets you automate your authorization and auditing process, helping you save time and your company money.
TripController™ helps you:
- Establish automatic pre-trip authorizations for air, car, and hotel purchases
- Provide unprecedented visibility of your travelers' trips
- Set thresholds by spend, group, type of travel, domestic, international and more
- Audit purchases and monitor for unauthorized activity
- Eliminate manual processes
And as cool as that is, we don't recommend using this tool in all cases. Rather, we recommend using it to solve problems. If you don't currently have a problem with unauthorized purchases, you may not need TripController™. You might find it more effective to simply use the notification setting and avoid the use of the pre-purchase authorization.
TripController™ is so powerful that its greatest strengths can also be frustrating for users and could cause unnecessary delays in purchasing travel. On top of that, you have the additional workload for the approver to contend with. Our guidelines for making the most of TripController™:
- Use only when necessary - don't use it just to use it.
- Don't let a few bad apples spoil it for everyone. Simply put your mavericks into a special traveler group and use TripController™ to manage their purchases.
- Use only on the type of purchase that's giving you trouble. If you're having unnecessary expenses in, say, car rentals, put all car rentals on TripController™ monitoring.
- Don't block trips unless you feel it's absolutely necessary. Often post-purchase notification can be a completely adequate substitute.
